The answer: compare the full basket, not a 'free' accessory headline
Apple's 2026 College Student Offer runs in India from 16 July to 27 August. A qualified purchaser who buys an eligible MacBook Air or MacBook Pro with a selected promotion product in one transaction receives ā¹12,900 of promotion savings. An eligible iPad Air or iPad Pro purchase with a selected promotion product receives ā¹10,900 of promotion savings.
Apple charges for every item in the basket and applies the promotion savings instantly against the transaction. This is important: the accessory is not a zero-value add-on, and no-cost EMI or cashback offers cannot be combined with the College Student Offer. The right comparison is the final Apple basket against the best genuinely comparable normal-store or authorised-retailer basket.
The offer does not widen education eligibility. It is for tertiary students attending or accepted into an institution in India, parents buying for an eligible tertiary student, and employees of public or private education institutions. The buyer must be at least 18 to place an Apple Store order.

What the 2026 College Student Offer includes

The eligible device and promotion product must be bought together from a qualifying Apple location in India during the promotion period. Apple identifies its retail stores, India Education Store and phone ordering line as qualifying locations. An order placed before the deadline can remain eligible if it ships later. Availability still matters, and Apple may modify or end the promotion under its terms.
If you choose a promotion product priced above the promotion savings, you pay the upgrade difference. If you choose an item that you would not otherwise buy, do not count its full retail price as cash saved. Value it according to your real use or resale-free personal need.

A reproducible final-cost comparison
Use this CouponPe original-analysis method. It is not a live checkout test, and the numbers below are hypothetical except for Apple's published promotion-savings amounts.
Suppose the same configured Mac has these two paths:
- Education-offer path: education device price + selected promotion-product price - ā¹12,900 promotion savings.
- Alternative-retailer path: comparable device price - eligible instant discount - bank discount + only the accessory you actually need.
Assume, only for illustration, that the education device price is ā¹1,20,000 and the chosen promotion product is ā¹18,000. The completed education basket is ā¹1,25,100: ā¹1,20,000 + ā¹18,000 - ā¹12,900. If a comparable authorised-retailer device costs ā¹1,16,000 after an instant bank discount and you would buy a ā¹5,000 accessory anyway, that alternative totals ā¹1,21,000. In this example the retailer path is ā¹4,100 lower.
Now change one input. If you genuinely planned to buy the ā¹18,000 promotion product, the education path may deliver more useful value despite the higher cash outlay. If you did not need it, describing the full accessory price as a saving would exaggerate the benefit. Apple's legal wording is the source of truth. Do not borrow an identity or alter proof. The promotion terms require the buyer to demonstrate eligibility before purchase, while the general Education Store terms also allow Apple to audit purchases. If Apple finds that the conditions were not followed, it can seek the difference between the education and public price or recover promotion savings under the applicable terms.

Annual purchase limits still apply
Apple's India Education Store terms allow one desktop, one Mac mini, one MacBook, one display and one education-priced Apple Watch per year. They allow two iPads and two education-priced accessories per year. Not every product has education pricing.
The seasonal promotion has its own one-product limits: one promotion product for an eligible Mac purchase and one for an eligible iPad purchase per qualified purchaser. Do not assume that an unused annual allowance creates a second promotional entitlement. These are maximum quantities, not buying recommendations.
Payment and return restrictions need an early check
The promotion terms say no-cost EMI and cashback offers cannot be combined with College Student Offer purchases, and certain payment methods are excluded. Check the payment section and the actual basket before building a monthly-cost comparison. A standard EMI shown elsewhere on Apple's site can include card interest; do not call it no-cost unless the exact checkout and issuer terms say so. Apple says returns and exchanges are not available at qualifying locations for the promotion, without affecting statutory consumer rights. Its India Education Store sales terms similarly say Apple Store products cannot be refunded or exchanged and direct buyers who believe a new product is defective to customer service. Recheck chip, memory, storage, colour, keyboard, engraving, delivery PIN code and buyer details before paying.
