The short answer: eligibility is narrower than ‘student discount’
Apple Education Pricing in India is for students attending or accepted into a tertiary education institution, parents buying for an eligible tertiary student, and employees of a public or private education institution. Apple’s India terms do not describe every school student as eligible. The buyer must also be at least 18 to place an Apple Store order.
This is year-round education pricing, not proof of a fixed percentage discount on every device. Apple says not all products receive special education pricing and it can change displayed prices. Open the normal Apple India store and the India Education Store in separate tabs, configure the same model, memory and storage, then compare the final amounts.

Apple’s legal wording is the source of truth. A verification screen or store conversation may explain the process, but it should not expand the published eligibility categories. If your institution type is unclear, ask Apple before payment and keep the answer with your order records.

Annual purchase limits apply
Apple’s current India terms set annual quantity limits. An eligible buyer may purchase one desktop, one Mac mini, one MacBook, one display and one Apple Watch with education pricing per year. The limit is two iPads and two education-priced accessories per year. Not every product in these categories necessarily has a special price.
These are maximum quantities, not a shopping recommendation. Buying an extra product simply to use an allowance can erase the benefit. The terms also say education purchases are for personal use and are not for institutional purchase or resale.
If you are choosing a computer for several years, compare the configuration you actually need. A lower entry price is poor value if you immediately need more storage, memory, adapters or protection. Apple may audit eligibility after the order
Apple says it routinely audits Education Store purchases. If the conditions were not observed, the terms authorise Apple to charge an eligible credit card for the difference between the education price and the general-public price that applied on the order date. For other payment methods, Apple says it may invoice that difference, payable within 15 days.
Do not borrow an identity, alter a document or assume checkout completion means eligibility cannot be checked later. Use your own genuine status or have an eligible parent make the purchase on behalf of their tertiary-student child. Save the order confirmation, institution proof used and exact product configuration.

Compare the completed price, not the word ‘discount’
Use this calculation for the same device configuration:
- Record the Apple Education Store price including tax.
- Add required accessories, AppleCare+ or adapters only if you need them.
- Record any payment offer visibly eligible for that exact education order.
- Build a separate cart for the normal Apple Store or an authorised retailer.
- Compare final amount, seller, warranty, delivery date and return terms side by side.

Apple’s current India Education Store terms state that products purchased at the Apple Store in India cannot be refunded or exchanged. Apple also says its one-year limited manufacturer warranty is separate from and additional to rights under Indian consumer law. That does not turn a wrong configuration or changed mind into an automatic refund. Recheck colour, chip, memory, storage, keyboard, delivery PIN code and buyer details before payment.
