What changes from 15 July
IndiGo Lite is a new entry-level Economy fare for travellers who can complete the trip with cabin baggage only. Bookings opened on 1 July 2026, and travel under the fare starts on 15 July 2026. IndiGo says it is available on non-stop domestic and international routes for one-way, return and multi-city bookings.
The included allowance is one 7 kg cabin bag and an auto-assigned seat. IndiGo's Lite terms state a maximum cabin-bag size of 55 x 35 x 25 cm, or 115 cm when length, width and height are added. Checked baggage, a preferred seat, meals and priority services are not included, but can be purchased separately. The fare is sold only through IndiGo's direct channels.
This does not mean Lite will always be the cheapest sensible choice. IndiGo has not published one universal saving because fares change by route and date. The useful comparison is the final price for your actual journey after baggage and other services are added.
What Lite includes and leaves out
| Item | IndiGo Lite position | What to check before paying |
|---|---|---|
| Cabin baggage | One bag up to 7 kg and 55 x 35 x 25 cm | Combined dimensions, weight and current cabin-baggage rules |
| Checked baggage | Not included | Price to add the weight you need, preferably before airport arrival |
| Seat | Auto-assigned seat included | Cost if sitting together or choosing a particular seat matters |
| Meal | Not included | Whether you need to pre-book food for the route |
| Route | Non-stop domestic and international flights | Connecting and code-share itineraries are excluded |
| Booking channel | IndiGo direct channels only | A travel portal may show another IndiGo fare family instead |
IndiGo's announcement says adults and children can use Lite, while its current Lite page excludes connecting flights, code-share bookings, unaccompanied minors, groups and special fare categories. Rules can change, so the fare conditions shown for the specific flight at checkout remain the final source.

CouponPeLite is built for one small cabin bag and a non-stop trip. A checked suitcase or connecting itinerary needs another comparison.
Who should consider it
Lite can suit a short trip where you know the cabin bag will remain within the allowance. It may also work for a traveller who does not care where the system assigns the seat and does not need a meal or priority service.
It is a weaker fit when you are carrying gifts, winter clothing, sports equipment or liquids that cannot travel in cabin baggage. Families should count luggage for the full party instead of assuming several small bags will be easier. If you later add checked baggage, the combined total may narrow or remove the gap from a regular fare.
Do not book a cabin-only fare hoping airport staff will ignore an oversized or overweight bag. Check the current baggage dimensions and prohibited-item rules before leaving home. A last-minute baggage purchase can also make the airport journey slower.
Compare the complete price, not the first fare
Use the same flight, passenger count and travel date for both versions. Write down the Lite fare, then add only the services you genuinely need. Compare that total with the standard fare and note what each option allows if plans change.

CouponPeCompare the complete trip cost, including baggage and useful add-ons, before choosing the lower headline fare.
A practical check takes five steps:
Pack first in principle. Estimate the actual bag and weight for the whole journey, including anything you may bring back.
Price the same flight twice. Keep route, date, time and passenger details identical.
Add necessary services. Include checked baggage, a chosen seat or a meal only when you will use them.
Read change and cancellation terms. A lower initial price can be less useful when the trip is uncertain.
Save the fare conditions. Keep the booking confirmation and the rules shown at payment.
CouponPe's final-price comparison method applies here too: the first number is not the decision; the verified payable total is. If payment succeeds but a ticket is not issued, preserve the reference and use the payment-debited, order-failed checklist.
Direct booking versus travel portals
Lite is exclusive to IndiGo's direct channels. That makes an exact portal-to-portal Lite comparison impossible if a travel site cannot sell the same fare. You can still compare the same flight and regular fare family through current MakeMyTrip coupons and booking offers or Goibibo coupon options, then return to the airline checkout and compare the final totals.
Do not compare a portal price that includes checked baggage with a Lite price that does not. Also separate an instant discount from cashback that arrives later. The fare name, baggage allowance, cancellation rule and final amount must all match before one option can honestly be called cheaper.
If the booking site or payment page adds an unexpected service, the dark-pattern checkout guide explains how to reset the basket and review consent. For a later airline or merchant refund, the return and refund evidence guide helps you keep the confirmation, policy and support trail together.
Bottom line
IndiGo Lite is useful when you genuinely travel light, accept an auto-assigned seat and are booking a non-stop flight through the airline's direct channel. It is not automatically the best value for a traveller who needs a checked bag. Price the complete journey, read the current conditions and choose the fare that covers what you will actually use.
